About the event

Recognizing the connection between atypical human development and various problematic, unhealthy, or violent behaviors is crucial. This understanding allows teams to create more informed, thoughtful, and effective responses. Additionally, acknowledging that many behaviors are not simply a 'choice' but are linked to an individual's disability or disorder can help staff manage their expectations and reduce reactive responses.

  • Learning Objectives:

    • Grasp the basics of typical versus atypical human development

    • Explore 'natural and unnatural' disruptions to healthy development

    • Discover how disabilities and disorders are related to behaviors
